To be eligible for the high school chapter of National Honor Society at Blue River Valley High School a student must first have a grade point average of 3.33 after 4 semesters of high school. 

The student will then complete an activity sheet of activities they have been involved in during high school to provide the committee information on their leadership, character and service. Service will be identified by a total of active involvement in 8 activities during their four semesters. The committee will then vote “yes” or “no” on each individual student. The student if accepted will be expected to complete 7 hours of service (activities where they received no reward nor were asked to complete the project) each semester. 

They are also expected to be involved in chapter activities. If the student does not complete the service project for the semester or maintain the 3.33 grade point average they will be placed on probation for a semester. They will receive a letter of notification of their probation. If the situation has not been corrected by the end of the probationary semester they will be removed from membership and are not permitted to again be inducted. Seniors in their final semester will not receive their senior cords nor be recognized at graduation.
